Brown scores 16 as WBB Falls on the Road to Benedict College, 81-59

Box Score Columbia, S.C. – Kentucky State University women's basketball lost in SIAC conference action to Benedict College 81-59 Saturday afternoon in Columbia, S.C.

The Thorobrettes were led by junior guard Daphene Brown with a team-high 16 points and six boards off the bench. Junior forward Erin Spencer snagged a game-high-tying 10 rebounds to go along with her seven points for the visitors .

KSU jumped out to a hot start in the contest, netting 7-of-16 from the field to take a 19-8 lead into the second quarter. The Thorobrettes continued to play well in the second stanza, going 7-of-14 from the floor and nailing two of three attempts from behind the arc to take a 37-31 lead over the Tigerettes into halftime.

Despite excellent offensive play in the first half, KSU was unable to maintain its momentum as it was outscored 52-22 by Benedict in the second half dropping its third straight SIAC conference game. The last time KSU lost three straight SIAC contest was during the 2013-14 campaign.

The Thorobrettes will continue its road trip as they square-off against non-conference foe Southern Indiana University on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
