Aliyah Gipson notched her second double-double of the season as Kentucky State University women's basketball snapped a six-game losing streak with a 63-61 victory over Albany State University at the Exum Center on Thursday night.
The Thorobrettes (4-7, 1-3) picked up their first win in conference play of the season, a win, head coach
Terrance Slater claimed to be a must need for his squad.
"We needed this game," said Slater. "At the end, I felt like we grew up tonight as a lot of our players got some significant minutes. I knew once we got Rochelle (Reece) activated she would make an impact for us, giving us a big lift off the bench."
Senior guard Rochelle Reese played 23 minutes in her season debut, scoring 15 points, adding two rebounds and two assists in the process. Junior guard
Brittani Rizzi added 14 points of her own in the win.
KSU will welcome in Fort Valley State University for a 1 p.m. ET tipoff on Saturday. The game will be the first of a doubleheader women's and men's matinee at the Exum Center.
