Frankfort, Ky.—Kentucky State University women's basketball will return to action after a 10-day layoff to take on Albany State University on Thursday, followed by Fort Valley State University on Saturday at the Exum Center.
The Thorobrettes (3-7, 0-3) will be entering the second half of their season as they will face SIAC opponents in 13 of the remaining 15 games.
"We played a tough schedule early on to prepare us for what we are about to face in league play," said head coach
Terrance Slater. "I'm encouraged because my team strives to get better every day and we've shown flashes of what we could be when we are locked in. We have to take things one day at a time and strive to get better every day."
KSU has lost six straight entering the two-game homestead but continues to be the team to beat in the west division of the SIAC. The Thorobrettes currently rank in the top-five in 10 of 12 team offensive categories within the conference.
"We have to put it all together," said Slater. "I tell them every day, it's not about how you start, but it's how you finish."
Four of the next five games for the Thorobrettes will be in the friendly confines of the Exum Center and will host division foes, Tuskegee University and Miles College in mid-January, to cap off the stretch.
KSU will be welcoming back
Rochelle Reece, a junior point guard from Ajax, Ontario, Canada. Reece will provide stability behind starting junior point guard
Zauria Kilgo.
Tipoff between the Thorobrettes and Lady Golden Rams is set for 5:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. While Saturday's contest against the Lady Wildcats is slated for 1:00 p.m. ET. Both games will be free to the public and will be the first game of doubleheaders, with the men's games to follow.
