Late Run Falls Short for MBB in 75-68 loss to LWC

Box Score Frankfort, Ky. – Kentucky State University, men's basketball, lost in non-conference action to Lindsey Wilson College 75-68 on Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.

KSU (2-6, 1-2) junior guard Dorian Jordan led the way with a game-high six steals to go along with his 14 points and seven assists, both team-highs. Senior guard Malcolm Smith added 13 points and grabbed six boards in the loss.

The Thorobreds struggled late in the first half as the Blue Raiders went on a 12-2 run in the final 2:50 of the frame as KSU trailed 40-31 going into halftime. LWC extended its run after the break, outscoring KSU 7-0 to begin the second half. The Thorobreds ended their scoring drought at 16:20 remaining as senior forward Julius Barton laid in a layup to make the score 47-33.

Later in the half, the Thorobreds went on a run of their own, outscoring the Blue Raiders 18-10 to cut the lead to just six, giving the visitors a slight 57-51 advantage with 10:06 left to play.

Despite a stifling Thorobred defense forcing 23 turnovers, KSU was unable to mount a comeback in the finals minutes, dropping their third consecutive regular season contest.

The Thorobreds will travel to Louisville, Ky. on Friday to participate in the Bellarmine Classic, squaring off with the hosting Knights at 7:30 p.m. ET.
