Box Score

Orangeburg, S.C. – Kentucky State University women's basketball lost in SIAC action to Claflin University, 59-47 on Thursday evening at the Tullis Arena.

The Thorobrettes (3-4, 0-2) were led by junior guard Brooklyn Sharpey as she scored 10 points and tied for a team-high six rebounds. Senior forward Aliyah Gipson came off the bench to add a team-high 11 points for KSU in the loss.

KSU struggled to contain the high-octane offense of the Lady Panthers, as they outshot the visitors 30-9 in the first quarter. Despite the shot differential, KSU was able to keep the score tied at 12 going into the second quarter. The visiting squad's struggles continued; scoring only two points in the second stanza to trail 31-14 at halftime.

The offensive woes continued for KSU until the fourth quarter, where the team outscored the Panthers 23-7, going 9-of-18 from the floor. The stellar fourth quarter was not enough for the Thorobrettes as they dropped their second consecutive conference game of the season.

KSU will continue its road trip, as it will travel to Benedict College on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tip-off.
