Wilberforce, Ohio.—Kentucky State University women's basketball rolled to a 90-43 victory over Salem International on Sunday afternoon.

Terrance Slater. "We played well as a team on both ends of the floor, while
Brooklyn Sharpey and
Brittani Rizzi were special for us offensively as well as defensively."
Newcomer, junior guard
Brittani Rizzi, a transfer from Lincoln Trail Community College shined for the Thorobrettes. She scored a game-high 29 points, seven assists, and five steals. Rizzi showed the ability to strike from long range, going 9-of-14 from three-point territory. Â
For the second contest in a row, junior
Brooklyn Sharpey turned in a complete performance, notching her first-career double-double. The Hazard, Ky. native stocked piled a game-high 14 assists, 10 points, and six steals. In 22 games a year ago, Sharpey only notched double-digit points on one occasion, in the early going of 2016-17, she has already accounted for two.
As a team, the Thorobrettes cut down the turnovers from a day before, only committing 12 as a team, while forcing 26. KSU continued to control the paint, out-scoring the Tigers 44-14, and were plus nine in the rebound battle, 41-32.
"We were extremely disruptive defensively," said Slater. "All in all our team played well as a whole. I'm really proud of them."
The Thorobrettes will look ahead to Tuesday as they go back on the road to play their third game in four days, as they visit Charleston University in Charleston, Wv for a 7 p.m. ET tipoff.
