Box Score 3 Tuskegee, Ala.—Kentucky State University volleyball went 1-2 on Friday in the SIAC Crossover at Tuskegee University.

The Thorobrettes (13-13) opened up the morning with 3-0 blanking of Lane College but dropped consecutive matches to Spring Hill College and Miles College in the night cap.

KSU will be back at it with a pair of matches on Saturday beginning with an 8 a.m. ET affair against Lemoyne-Owen College followed by a 2 p.m. ET match with host Tuskegee.

Ariana Gregory led the way for the Thorobrettes slamming eight kills, while senior outside
Tahje Ochs collected seven.

Sophomore setter
Cierra Couch notched 23 assists while digging eight balls in the process. Three-time SIAC defensive player of the week senior
Micah Rogers continued her pace, digging a team-high 16 balls.

KSU controlled the tempo on serves with 11 aces to the Blazers' six.

SHC jumped out early on KSU, and the Thorobrettes couldn't recover, as they didn't lead at any point in the match.

Gregory led the Thorobretts for the second consecutive match in kills, but only tallied four through its duration. Couch, picked up where she started in the first match, leading the team with 13 assists.

SHC is the only SIAC team to defeat the defending SIAC tournament champions twice this season.

MC 3 KSU 1 (25-15, 19-25, 12-25, 18-25)

Ochs smashed 10 kills, including three in the opening set against the Golden Bears, putting the Thorobrettes up early in the match, 1-0.

Momentum began to shift in the second set to MC, as they took the set 25-19, and finished off the Thorobrettes in the final two frames to take the last match of the day.

Defensively KSU blocked MC five times at the net and were led by sophomore middle blocker
Payton Richardson with three.

Rogers dug 19 balls and notched nine assists in the loss. Â
