Box Score ALBANY, Ga. – The Kentucky State women's basketball team bounced back from a tough loss in resounding fashion, rolling to an 80-48 win at Albany State in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game on Monday.
Two days after being held to a season-low 29 points in a loss at Fort Valley State, the Thorobrettes exploded for their largest margin of victory of the season behind a 21-point effort from
Logan Powell on 9-of-10 shooting.
Alexis Stallard and
Shaia Horton also reached double figures for Kentucky State, with Stallard contributing 12 points and Horton 11 with a game-high nine rebounds. Stallard and
Taylor Sanders each contributed six assists.
A game removed from their worst shooting performance of the season, the Thorobrettes came back with a 60 percent (12-of-20) performance from 3-point range on Monday, with Powell and Horton each making three. Kentucky State shot 57 percent (34-of-60) overall while holding Albany State to 28 percent (17-of-61) shooting.
The game remained close throughout the first half, with Kentucky State holding a 23-19 lead at the end of the first quarter and a 36-29 lead at halftime. The Thorobrettes pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Rams 44-19.
Kentucky State improves to 8-3 overall and 3-2 in SIAC play with the win, while Albany State drops to 3-8 overall and 3-1 in the conference. The Thorobrettes return to action when they host Clark Atlanta at 3 p.m. on Saturday at the Exum Center.
