Box Score 2 JASPER, Ala. – The Kentucky State University softball team pushed their conference winning streak to five games on Sunday evening with shutout wins over Claflin, 10-0, and Fort Valley State, 4-0, to begin the weather delayed SIAC Crossover being held at Memorial Park.

After missing their opening round games on Saturday, Mar. 14, because of weather, the Thorobrettes (5-11, 5-3 SIAC) got their SIAC Crossover started with a dominating 10-0 victory against the Claflin University Lady Panthers (11-6, 3-2 SIAC) on Sunday evening.

Cheyenne Carpenter (4-5)Â picked up her fourth straight win with a five inning one-hit shutout. Carpenter, who has a 3.32 ERA this season, struck out three and walked three.

Alysha Sakamura went 2-for-3 from the plate and drove in an RBI. Shortstop
Danielle Odums and third baseman
Katelyn Drake each had a pair of RBI.

In their second game of the day, the Thorobrettes faced off against Fort Valley State (2-12, 2-2 SIAC), coming away with another shutout victory, 4-0, over the Lady Wildcats.

Brittney Gately (1-4) pitched seven shutout innings for Kentucky State to earn the complete game victory, the first of her collegiate career. Gately struck out three FVSU batters and allowed just one walk on Sunday. She also helped her cause, going 1-for-2 from the plate, including a single that drove in
Danielle Bonham in the top of the second to put KSU ahead 2-0.

KSU, which scored two runs on passed balls, needed just a pair of hits from Gately and centerfielder
Tyniesha Wilson to score four runs and earn the 4-0 shutout win.

Kentucky State heads back to Memorial Park on Monday, Mar. 16, for games against Benedict College at 12 p.m. (CT) and Paine College at 2 p.m. (CT).
