Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State University women's basketball team pushed their current winning streak to seven games with a, 91-50, blowout of the visiting Lane College Lady Dragons on Thursday evening at the Exum Center.

Kentucky State (15-4, 10-2 SIAC) overwhelmed Lane (2-15, 2-9 SIAC) in almost every facet of the game, leading from the opening tip to the final horn. As a team, KSU shot 53 percent (36-of-68) from the floor, their third best shooting performance this season.

In the opening half, the Thorobrettes turned up the pressure early and slowly pulled further and further away from the Lady Dragons. Already leading 14-7, a
Logan Powell layup with 12:53 on the clock sparked an 8-0 run that put KSU ahead 22-7 with just under 11 minutes remaining. With 21 seconds remaining in the opening half, a turnover from LC's Niya Royal gave KSU possession with the chance to hold for the final shot. After a timeout, the Thorobrettes ran a play that allowed All-SIAC forward
Shayla Moore to shake open for a wide open 3-pointer that she buried to put Kentucky State ahead by 26, 47-21, as the teams headed into the locker rooms.

In the final half, it was much of the same for Kentucky State. The Thorobrettes used big runs to quickly build their lead and finished the game with a 9-0 run that gave them their largest lead of the contest as the final horn sounded.

Kentucky State had some of their best performances of the season in several statistical categories.

As a team, the Thorobrettes shot a season-high 77 percent (13-for-17) from the free-throw line. KSU pulled down a season-best 52 boards as a team, including a season-high 35 on the defensive end.

The Kentucky State defense has been swarming recently. In the last two games, the Thorobrettes have had their two best defensive performances, holding LeMoyne-Owen to just 25 percent from the field on Monday and limiting Lane to just 27 percent today.

Starting center
Shaquanda Wiggins was incredibly efficient, going 10-of-11 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the line to finish with a game-high 22 points. Wiggins flirted with a triple-double on Thursday, finishing with eight rebounds and seven assists to go along with a pair of steals and a block on the defensive end.

Point guard
Taylor Sanders finished with 17 points after going 5-for-8 from the floor including 3-for-3 from 3-point range and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Starting All-SIAC forward
Brieona Warner had a great all-around game. Warner finished with eight points, 11 rebounds, five assists, six blocks and three steals. Moore added 12 points, seven boards and a pair of steals. Guard
Ashley Huddleston finished with 13 points. Powell added eight points and nine rebounds off the bench.

Lane was led by guard Chloe Roberts who had a team-high 17 points after going 6-for-19 from the floor. Roberts was the only Lady Dragon to finish in double-figures. Center Shadarian Beasley corralled a game-high 12 rebounds.

KSU now travels down to Jackson, Tenn. to finish up a rare back-to-back conference match-up against Lane on Monday, Feb. 9. After their game against the Lady Dragons, the Thorobrettes return home for a showdown with LeMoyne-Owen on Thursday, Feb. 12.
