FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Kentucky State University women's basketball team won their third straight game with a 67-61 victory against the Fort Valley State Lady Wildcats on Monday evening at the HPE Complex.
 
Kentucky State (6-2, 2-0 SIAC) built their lead to as many as 13 points in the first half but Fort Valley State (3-10, 1-1 SIAC) fought back to cut the Thorobrettes lead to just three, 31-28, at the intermission.
 
In the second half, KSU never relinquished their lead, never letting a scrappy FVSU team to closer than three points.
 
While both teams shot a similar percentage from the floor, the Thorobrettes held a distinct advantage on the boards. KSU outrebounded the Lady Wildcats 43-34 on Monday evening.
 
Senior center 
Shaquanda Wiggins led the Thorobrettes offensively for the second game in a row, scoring   a team-high 16 points to go along with four boards. Starting point guard 
Taylor Sanders had a solid all-around game with 13 points, eight rebound and four assists. 
Logan Powell added 11 points and six rebounds. 
Shayla Moore had a team-high 11 rebounds to go with six points.
 
FVSU was led by Carmenonique Dawson who poured in a game-high 21 points. Dawson also had eight rebounds, three assists and three steals. Brittnee Hazel added 11 points and Antionna Jefferson had 10 points off the bench.
 
The Thorobrettes now travel back home where they'll host the Claflin Lady Panthers on Thursday, Jan. 8, at 5:30 p.m.
