FRANKFORT, Ky. - On Tuesday, Jan. 27, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released the first regular-season NCAA DII National Team Computer Rankings.
Highlighting the first ranking release of the season is men's team senior
Kieren Broussard who ranks 14th nationally and 1st regionally in the 800 meter event. Broussard placed second in the 800m event with a time of 1:54.09 at the University of Kentucky Invitational back on Jan. 16.
Overall the Kentucky State men's team is ranked fourth in the South region. Sophomore
Javonte Brooks-Brown currently ranks first in the South region in the shot put event. Brooks-Brown threw a 14.30m mark at the UK Invitational to earn the ranking. In addition to his top ranking in the 800m, Broussard is third in the 400m with a time of 49.32 set at the Oiler Opener host by Findlay.
FULL MEN'S REGIONAL RANKINGSThe women's indoor track and field team currently sits sixth in the regional rankings. The Thorobrettes are anchored by junior
Joscilyn Crain who ranks in the top-5 in both the weight throw and shot put events. Crain is currently second in the weight throw event after tossing a mark of 13.95m at the Oiler Opener on Dec. 5. She ranks fifth in the shot put event after a mark of 10.64m at the UK Invitational on Jan. 16. Sophomore
Vinsetta Covington is currently fourth in the regional shot put ranking with her mark of 10.69m at the UK Invitational.
FULL WOMEN'S REGIONAL RANKINGSThe indoor track and field teams are back in action this weekend when they travel to the Indianapolis Track and Field Classic hosted by the University of Indianapolis on Jan. 30-31.
