COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kentucky State Indoor Track and Field has success at the 2023 Comets Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
Amani Wagner dominated in the women's throw, taking first with a throw of 39 ft. 1.75 in. Her teammates Dominique Jenkins placed fourth (36 ft 2.75 in.), and Jamiyah Donald finished fifth (35 ft. 11.25 in.).
In the women's weight throw, Amani Wagner finished second with a throw of 50 feet, Jamiyah Donald finished seventh (34 ft. 6 in.), and Dominique Jenkins placed ninth (32 ft. 5 in.).
Treyvon Beasley finished second in the men's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.05.
Damien Ross ran an 8.99 to finish second in the men's 60-meter hurdles. His teammate Calvin Shannon finished fourth with a time of 9.65.
In the men's 1600-meter relay, the Kentucky State first team finished second with a time of 3:33.52, and the B team finished fourth with a time of 3:44.10.
As a team, Arinn Hayes, Jaylynne Williams, Esperance Nibitanga, Zaria Robinson, Jaysha Bell, and Brionna Graham finished second in the 800-meter relay with a time of 1:54.45.
The men took both second and third in the men's 800-meter relay; the first team finished second with a time of 1:33.54, and the B team finished third, finishing the event with a time of 1:39.24.
Three Thorobreds placed in the top ten of the men's weight throw, led by Christopher Coneway in sixth (30 ft. 9 in.), Jalen Johnson (30 ft. 8 in.), and Simmons Lester in ninth(27 ft. 6 in.).
A pair of Thorobreds in the top five of the men's long jump as Nigel Cochran placed third (21 ft. .5 in.) and Treyvon Beasley placed fifth (20 ft. .25 in.).
Arin Hayes placed third in the women's long jump with a distance of 16 ft. 1 in.
