Box Score JACKSON, Tenn. -- The Kentucky State University women's basketball team took care of business against the Lane Lady Dragons, 77-59, in a conference game on Saturday afternoon at the JF Lane Gym.
The Thorobrettes were led by forward Shayla Moore who had a game-high of 20 points, shooting an impressive 9-of-14 from the field.
Kentucky State had five players score in double figures on Saturday afternoon. Brieona Warner finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. LaShell West had 12 points and three steals. Teeuntra Moore contributed with 12 points and six rebounds. Style Harper had 11 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Kentucky State shot the ball effectively, shooting 54% from the floor as a team against Lane. That is the second highest shooting percentage since their Dec. 1st match-up against Bluefield State when KSU shot a season-high 54.9% from the field.
A huge key to the Thorobrettes victory was their ability to get to the free throw line where they knocked down 21-of-26 free throws.
The Lady Dragons shot just 13% from the 3-point range, connecting on 2-of-15 shots from beyond the arc over the course of the game. While limiting their attempts from deep, the Thorobrettes were effective, connecting on 50% of their 3-point attempts, going 2-of-4 over the course of the game.
Lane was led by guard Sharon Morgan who finished with a team-high 13 points. SeQoya Cox added 12 points and Crystal Rayford contributed with 11 points.
Next up for Kentucky State Thorobrettes is a match-up against Tuskegee University on Thursday, Feb. 20th, in Tuskegee, Alabama at 5:30pm.Â
