BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Kentucky State University women's basketball team fell to Bluefield State College, 72-58, in their opening game of the Sheetz Herb Sims Classic on Friday, Dec. 19.
The Lady Blues (7-5) jumped out to a 42-28 lead in the opening half by shooting 59 percent (16-of-27) from the floor as a team. The Thorobrettes (3-2) struggled to move the ball around on the offensive end, picking up just three assists compared to 14 for Bluefield State.
The Thorobrettes turned things around in the second half but were unable to close the gap. KSU shot much better, connecting on 46 percent of their field goal attempts in the final half.

Shayla Moore was a bright spot for Kentucky State. Moore scored a game-high 17 points to go along with six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Starting center
Shaquanda Wiggins contributed with 15 points and five rebounds.
Teeuntra Moore had six points and a team-high seven boards.
Charity Harris led the Lady Blues with a team-high 16 points and six assists to go along with five rebounds and three steals. Tasia Nolan and Shakima Wiggins both finished in double figures, scoreing 15 and 13 points respectively.
Kentucky State returns tomorrow for their second game of the Sheetz Herb Sims Classic, this time against West Virginia Tech at 2 p.m.
