Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. - The Kentucky State University men's basketball team defeated the St. Catharine College Patriots, 103-80, on Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.
KSU was efficient on both sides of the floor, shooting 58 percent from the floor as a team while holding SCC to just 40 percent as a team.
Sophomore transfer
Julius Barton used his 6-foot-10 frame to protect the basket against the smaller sized St. Catharine squad. Barton tallied seven of KSU's 11 total blocks in his debut with the Thorobreds. He also added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Last year's leading scorer,
Ulysses Thomas III, picked up right where he left off, leading the Thorobreds with 20 points on an efficient 8-of-12 shooting performance. Thomas also had six rebounds, three assists and three steals.
In total, KSU had four student-athletes pick up double digit points. Freshman
Malcolm Smith contributed with 14, going 6-for-9 from the floor including 2-of-4 from 3-point range, while senior transfer
Anthony Adams Jr. added 10.
The Patriots were led by Aishon White who had a game-high 25 points after going 10-for-22 from the floor.
Kentucky State stays at home for their next game on Wednesday, Nov. 19, when the Thorobreds host Indiana University Southeast at 7:30 p.m.
