Men’s Basketball Set to Open Season at Home Against St. Catharine College

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State University men's basketball team will open the 2014-15 season this Saturday, Nov. 15, with a home game against the St. Catharine College Patriots. The contest is slated for a 3 p.m. tip-off in the Exum Center.

St. Catharine (1-3), an NAIA program from St. Catharine, Ky., enters the game with four games under their belt after beginning their season on Nov. 1 at Indiana University Southeast.

Kentucky State returns nine players from last year's team including leading scorer Ulysses Thomas III and assist leader Quentin Henderson. Both Thomas and Henderson were recently named to the 2014-15 Preseason All-SIAC Team.

"I'm looking for my guys to come out with a lot of energy and intensity," Head Coach Antwain Banks said about this weekend's game. "We're all anxious to play real game minutes and see how our hard work in the offseason has paid off."

After Saturday's game against St. Catharine, the Thorobreds will host Banks' alma mater, Indiana University Southeast, on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets for Saturday's game are $8 each and can be purchased at the ticket window. Doors open one hour prior to tip-off. Kentucky State students get into the game for free with valid KSU ID.
