FRANKFORT, Ky. – Jacquise Lockett rushed for 243 yards and a pair of touchdowns to help lead the Kentucky State University football team to a 31-24 victory over rival Central State University on Saturday afternoon at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Thorobreds snap a 3-game losing streak to improve to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play. CSU drops their fourth game in a row, falling to 1-4 overall and 1-2 in SIAC action.

The KSU offense had the ball for over 36 minutes against the Marauders, using an effective rushing attack to keep the Central State offense off the field.

KSU quarterback Adam Robinson finished the game going 9-for-18 for 75 yards through the air while picking up both a passing and rushing touchdown. Senior tight end Larry McDaniel was the leading receiver for Kentucky State, finishing with four catches for 28 yards and a touchdown.

Almost the entire Central State offense was generated by quarterback Michael Wilson on Saturday. He was directly responsible for 359 of the Marauders 378 total offensive yards. Wilson was 17-for-36 with 210 yards and a touchdown through the air while also using his legs to pick up 149 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Both defenses showed areas of weakness but the Thorobreds defense held strong when they were needed. The two teams combined for 721 yards on Saturday afternoon.

Linebacker Trevon Spencer led Kentucky State with 8 tackles, 2.5 for loss, and half a sack. Junior linebacker Joshua Williams had a solid game filling in for Terry Horton. Williams finished the game with four tackles and a crucial interception on the Marauders opening drive of the game that led to the Thorobreds first touchdown.
