Tuskegee Pushes Past Kentucky State, 38-9

TUSKEGEE, Ala. -
The Kentucky State University football team fell short in their bid for an upset victory over the SIAC West Division leading Tuskegee University Golden Tigers on Saturday afternoon. Tuskegee, hosting the Thorobreds for their homecoming game, defeated Kentucky State, 38-9, at Abbott Stadium.

The Golden Tiger's posted 465 total offensive yards against the Thorobreds on Saturday. That's the most yardage KSU has allowed in a single game this season. TU used a balanced offensive attack, picking up a pair of touchdowns on the ground and through the air.

Kentucky State freshman quarterback Ora Johnson struggled in his first collegiate start under center. Johnson went 6-for-13 for 93 yards through the air but also had a pair of interceptions. Senior Adam Robinson entered the game in the fourth quarter, going 7-for-13 and 85 yards, but couldn't get the KSU offense going. Kentucky State ended the contest with 317 total offensive yard.

Running back Jacquise Lockett was once again the workhorse on the ground for Kentucky State, finishing with 99 yards on 16 carries and the lone Thorobred touchdown on Saturday.

Kentucky State falls to 2-6 overall this season and 1-4 in SIAC action. The Golden Tigers move to 6-2 overall while remaining perfect in conference play with a 5-0 record against SIAC teams.

The Thorobreds return home next week for their final home game of the 2014 season when they host Lane College on Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
