Box Score FORT VALLEY, Ga. - The Kentucky State University football team was plagued by turnovers in a 36-21 loss to Fort Valley State University on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium.
The Thorobreds turned the ball over five times on Saturday and the Wildcats scored directly after three of those KSU turnovers.
Kentucky State was led offensively by senior running back
Jacquise Lockett who finished the game with 101 yards and a pair of touchdowns. KSU quarterback
Adam Robinson was 14-for-40 on Saturday finishing with 193 passing yards and three interceptions. Georgia native CoreySlaughter was the leading receiver for the Thorobreds with five catches for 72 yards.
Defensively, KSU was led by senior defensive lineman
Marcus Harris who had a team-high 9 totals tackles including 1.5 tackles for a loss of 14 yards. The Thorobreds special teams played a big role in keeping the game within reach for Kentucky State. Both
Christon Woods and
Nick Williams picked up blocked kicks in the game with Williams also scoring after falling on the blocked punt for a touchdown.
With the conference loss, Kentucky State falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in SIAC action. Fort Valley State improves to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play.The Thorobreds are back home next week for their homecoming game against Miles College on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 1:30 p.m.
