Thorobrettes Comeback Falls Shorts Against Fort Valley State, 87-79

Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky State University Thorobrettes fell to SIAC opponent Fort Valley State University Lady Wildcats on Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.

After falling behind by 18 points with just over eight minutes remaining in Saturday's game, the Thorobrettes fought all the way back and trailed by just one point when KSU guard LaShell West hit a jumper in the lane to cut the FVSU lead to 77-76 with just over two minutes remaining in the contest.

Despite the comeback the Lady Wildcats kept their composure and held on for their second straight SIAC victory to start conference play. FVSU is now 4-7 overall and 2-0 in the SIAC.

Kentucky State falls to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in SIAC action.

The Lady Wildcats were led offensively by guard D'Ambria Thomas who finished the contest with a team high 17 points to go with five rebounds, three assists and six steals.

Kentucky State senior guard West had a game high 24 points to go with seven rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Kentucky State was outrebounded by FVSU 50-39 on Saturday.

The Thorobrettes once again struggled from the free-throw line. KSU missed 19 free-throws, going 20-for-39, on their way to a dismal 51% from the charity stripe. As a team Kentucky State is averaging 61% from the free-throw line this season.

The Thorobrettes will get back on the court this Monday when they host Clark-Atlanta at the Exum Center. The game has been rescheduled to a 1:00 p.m tip-off in order to avoid the forecasted weather on Monday evening.
