Kentucky State Pushes Win Streak to Five Games After Topping Lane, 86-62

Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky State University men's basketball team defeated the Lane College Dragons, 86-62, in an SIAC match-up on Thursday night at the Exum Center.

Kentucky State (9-9, 7-5 SIAC) pushes their season best win streak to five games and gets back to .500 overall for the first time since early in the season when a loss to Central State dropped them to 1-1.

Lane (3-13, 1-11 SIAC) drops their third in a row and tenth straight SIAC contest this season as they head into a game against Selma University on Saturday.

The Thorobreds were led offensively by Antonio Sullivan who poured in a season high 23 points, going 9-of-14 from the floor, all in just 19 minutes of playing time.

Senior big man Brandon Darrett continues to make a name for himself down low, picking up his eighth double-double of the season with a 14 point, 13 rebound performance against the Dragons. Darrett also had a game-high four blocks to go with two steals on the defensive end.

Point guard Quentin Henderson had his second highest assist total in a single game this season as he consistently found open teammates to tally seven assists on Thursday night. Henderson had a season-high 10 assists against Stillman earlier this season.

As a team, the Thorobreds shot 49% from the floor while holding the Dragons to just 35% as a team.

Lane, who dressed just nine players on Thursday, had three starters pick up double digit points. Jeremy Whitmore picked up a team-high 13 points before fouling out of the game. Center Bryant Hill and slashing forward Sha'Mar Nolen both had 10 points.

Kentucky State heads out on the road for a game against Wilberforce University on Monday, Feb. 3rd. The Thorobreds then return home for a match-up with the LeMoyne-Owen Magicians on Thursday, Feb. 6th.
