Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. -- The Kentucky State University Thorobrettes fell to SIAC West Division opponent Tuskegee University Golden Tigerettes, 61-53, on Saturday afternoon at the Exum Center.
After falling behind by as many as 15 points in the first half of Saturday's game, the Thorobrettes (4-11 overall, 0-7 SIAC) fought hard but couldn't close the gap in the second half, dropping their seventh straight game to start conference play.
The win helps Tuskegee (8-7 overall, 4-2 SIAC) strengthen their hold on the top spot in the SIAC West Division standings.
The Golden Tigerettes were led offensively by Kajuanna Rivers and Marie McAbee who finished with 16 and 15 points respectively. McAbee also had a game-high 14 rebounds and three steals.
The Thorobrettes were led by the frontcourt tandem of Brieona Warner and Teeuntra Moore who finished the 16 and 14 points respectively. Even though they led the team in point production, Warner and Moore were a combined 13-37 from the floor, just 35%.
Moore finished the game with 12 rebounds as well, which gave Moore her fourth double-double of the season.
As a team, the Thorobrettes were 20-of-65 from the floor, a 30.8% shooting performance. Tuskegee wasn't much better, connecting on just 20-of-59 (33.9%) shots from the floor.
The Thorobrettes will get right back on the court this Monday when they host Stillman at the Exum Center. Stillman enters the game with a 5-12 overall record, 1-6 in SIAC action. The game has been rescheduled to a 1:00 p.m tip-off.
