FRANKFORT, Ky. – In their final game of the regular season, the Kentucky State Thorobrette's defeated Stillman College, 80-60. On a night that the Kentucky State seniors were celebrated, underclassmen led the way for the Thorobrette's.
KSU (14-11, 10-6 SIAC) was led offensively by junior
Style Harper who finished with 19 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Harper helped hold the Thorobrette's lead as she shot 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. KSU sophomore forward
Shayla Moore finished the game with double-double after scoring 16 point and pulling down 10 rebounds. Senior guard
Jasmine Davis had a solid all around performance finishing with nine points, six rebounds and five assists.
Stillman College (10-15, 9-7 SIAC) struggled offensively throughout the game shooting just over 32% from the floor as a team. Stillman guard Angel Mitchell led the team with 21 points but like the team, did not shot well from the floor, going 5-of-17 for the game.
Kentucky State was able control the pace of the contest by forcing the Lady Tigers into 21 turnovers on Saturday afternoon while committing just 12 turnovers themselves.
Next up for the Thorobrette's is the 80th Annual SIAC Basketball Tournament in Atlanta, Ga. Games will be played at Frank L. Forbes Arena on the campus of Morehouse College, Monday, February 25th with the champions being crowned on Saturday evening March 2nd.
The first and quarterfinals rounds of Men's and Women's action will be played Monday through Thursday, February 25-28, while the remaining teams will compete in the semi-finals and championship rounds on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd.
