Box Score FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky State University Thorobrettes used overwhelming offense to power past non-conference opponent Midway College, 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-20), on Tuesday evening at the Exum Center.
Kentucky State (12-7, 10-1 SIAC) had a team total of 40 kills to just 19 for Midway. Junior
Emily Grieshaber had a match high 17 kills to go along with seven digs. Freshman setter
Anjelique Kyle spread the ball around racking up a match high 27 assists.
The Thorobrettes were led defensively by freshman defensive specialist
Tianna Presley-Askew who finished the match with 12 digs. Junior hitter
Latosha Scott also had double digit kills for KSU finishing with 11.
Midway (5-11, 1-4 KIAC) struggled offensively finishing with a team attack percentage of just .053. Christa Prewitt had a team high eight kills over the course of the match. Molly O'Bryan had a team high eight assists for the Eagles.
The match served as the Thorobrette's annual "Dig Pink" match which aims to bring awareness and funds to the fight against cancer. KSU wore special pink jerseys and used a pink and white volleyball for the match.
Next up for the Thorobrettes is the SIAC West Division Cluster which will be held at Lane College in Jackson, Tenn. on Oct. 4-5.
