Box Score Frankfort, KY (February 11, 2012) – The Kentucky State University Thorobrettes took on their rival the Central State University Lady Marauders at the Frankfort Convention Center. At the end of 40 minutes of regulation and one overtime, the Brettes fell to CSU,  73-74.

The Brettes started the first half in what seemed to be slow motion. Missed shots and turnovers were the Brettes downfall. Junior, Sharnita Lloyd put the first points on the board for KSU with a basket from behind the arch four minutes into the game. And 1 plays from Jasmine Davis and Raven Ward kept the Brettes in the race for the lead against the Lady Marauders.

The Lady Marauders racked up points on the offense while their defense held the Brettes scoreless for four minutes. A good layup and free throws by Lloyd kept the Brettes in the game. KSU ended the half trailing CSU 24-31.

The Brettes began the second half firing with a three from the team's leading scorer Davis. Layups from the team's seniors Asia Dubose and Ward put the Brettes within inches of the lead. The Lady Marauders were up by 9 with 10:26 up left in regulation. The Thorobrettes didn't count themselves out; the ladies hustled to get within three of CSU with 5:04 left in regulation. Davis sunk a deep three to put the Brettes within one. A layup by Kristi Malohi tied the game up at 65-65 and sent the Brettes into overtime.

The Lady Marauders began overtime with Tajha Walker goes 1-2 at the line. CSU adds four more points to the before the Brettes can score two. With 1:51 left in overtime, Davis hits a three to give the Brettes their first lead of the game. Brielle Newton kept the lead alive with a layup.

After a Central State timeout, Tanija Beasley regains the lead for the Lady Marauders with a good jumper. With :06 left in overtime, the Brettes are unable to score. 

Jasmine Davis was the leading scorer tonight with 21 points, 8 assists and 3 steals. Raven Ward had 18 points, 5 assists and 2 steals. Sharnita Lloyd finished the game with 16 points, 4 assists, 3 steals and a block.

This loss leaves the Brettes at 8-14. The Brettes travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama to take on the Lady Tigers at Stillman College on February 16, 2012.
