Close Victory For The Breds Against Lane College

Jackson, TN-The KSU men's basketball program closed out a close victory over Lane College 55-52.

The Thorobreds shot a disappointing 26.7%, shooting 8-30 from the field in the first half. KSU battled with Lane's depth in bench throughout the first half leaving Lane up by 3 to close out the half, 28-25.

The 2nd half proved to be not much different from the first as the Thorobreds went head-to-head with Lane producing 12 lead changes. A jumper by Senior guard Tony Johnson (Louisville, KY) with 3:16 broke a tie putting the Thorobreds ahead 45-47. Lane's James Edmond produced a scary late game 3 to put the Dragons back in the lead with 2:07 left on the clock. Patrick Dawson (Cincinnati, OH) answered back with a 3-pointer of his own with 2:04 left in the 2nd half to put the Thorobreds ahead 49-51. KSU maintained the lead for the final two minutes of the game. Dawson closed out the game with 4 made free throws to cement KSU's victory.

Patrick Dawson (Cincinnati, OH) led all scorers with 23 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists.

James Edmond led Lane with 15 points and 9 rebounds.
