Huntsville, AL - The Thorobreds of KSU searched for a win on the road against the Chargers of Alabama-Huntsville as they traveled to Huntsville, AL.
The first inning of the double-header started off rocky for KSU but 1st Baseman Gregory White managed to provide a run to advance the score 1-0 before Designated Hitter Ricardo Vasquez struck out to bring in Alabama-Huntsville. UAH's J. Riddle was hit by pitch in his first at bat and was walked. Riddle then proceeded to steal 2nd base. J. McKinney grounded out to 2nd base and allowed Riddle to advance to third. Riddle managed to score as 3rd baseman J. Parker doubled to right field. This was followed by 3 more UAH runs by Parker, Chancelor, and Debruin to close out the 1st inning.
The Thorobreds failed to produce any runs in the 2nd inning. Pitcher Matthew Adel allowed 4 hits from UAH that resulted in two more points for the Chargers that sat the score at 6-1 by the 3rd inning. KSU could not find a rhythm in the 3rd of 4th innings producing only 2 hits. UAH held KSU scoreless in both innings. UAH looked to have the upper hand as they ran out 18 more runs in the 4th, 5th, and 6th innings setting the score at 24-1. KSU failed to score in the 6th inning but managed to squeeze out two runs in the 7th by Left Fielder Andrew Ramsey and 2nd baseman Jeremy Newton. KSU ended the first match of the double header 3-24.
The 2nd round of KSU's double-header against the UAH Chargers started off with the Thorobreds at bat first. Left Fielder Andrew Ramsey led off the inning and was grounded out, followed by a strike out from Left Fielder Rapheal Amey, and a ground out by 3rd baseman Michael Swayne. UAH's first time at bat looked much like the first match as KSU allowed UAH to earn 5 runs. The Thorobreds were held scoreless in the 2nd inning as well with strikeouts from Adel, White, and Duncan. AUH produced 2 more runs in the 2nd inning, 2 in the 4th, and 3 in the 5th inning as KSU still were unable to gain any hits or runs. Catcher Andy Fisher and 2nd baseman Matthew Brown struck out in the 6th inning while 2nd baseman Jeremy Newton got out on 1st base. Neither UAH or KSU produced any runs in the 6th inning leaving the game with 12-0 on the scoreboard.
