Raphael Amey are the winners of week-five Fan Poll voting for the HSRN National Player of the Week. Each week during the season, HSRN's staff will select the top performances from all HBCU action and give the fans across the country a chance to vote for the Player of the Week.
This was the fourth time in five weeks that Alabama State Hornets fans have made sure their star athlete came out on top. In Div. I FCS voting Jenkins won with 1,018 votes, QB Greg McGhee (Howard) finished with 246, QB Michael German (Tennessee St.) finished with 244 votes, and WR LaQuinton Evans (Southern) 12. Div. II voting has Amey with 431 votes, followed by QB Quinshon Odom (Shaw) 347, QB Byron Ingram (Morehouse) 64 and RB Nicholas Cooper (Winston Salem St.) 33.
HSRN developed the fan poll to get all HBCU alumni, students and fans involved with the national process and to also give everyone a chance to consistently keep up with the individual performances around the country. This web site and our broadcasts are designed to keep you abreast of all action around HBCU athletic competition.

Greg Jenkins - Alabama St. - QB - 6-1, 210 - JR/Dade City, FL
Jenkins accounted for 355 yards and all four Hornet touchdowns in 31-23 win over Alcorn State. He completed 17 of 34 passes for 297 yards with three touchdowns and one interception while rushing for 58 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries. Set career highs in passing yards and rushing yards, had a career-high 85-yard completion to Nick Andrews in the second quarter, and tied a career high in touchdown passing and rushing touchdowns.

Raphael Amey - Kentucky St. - WR/KR - 6'1, 185 - SR/Dumfries, VA
Amey set a Circle City Classic record for most receptions (14) and most reception yards with 234, which was also career highs. He also had 23 yards in kick-off returns finishing the game with 257 all purpose yards. He was also named HSRN's Game of the Week broadcast Player of the Game. Despite his impressive performance, the Thorobreds fell short in the shoot-out with Albany State 57-31.
