Entering his 5th year coaching basketball, assistant coach Jerome Givens has accomplished two CIAA Tournament Championships. CIAA Western Division Champs two years in a row. He made it to the NCAA Division II tournament two years in a row the first round (2008 and 2009). Coached two years as a high school coach one year at Woodford Co. High School where he helped as an assistant and helped Woodford County High School to the regional tournament where they had not appeared in three seasons. Givens also coached at Lafayette High School.
As a high school student-athlete at Woodford Co. High School, Givens finished his career as the leading scorer in school history and was the first player in school history to have his jersey retired. Givens attended Johnson C. Smith University and graduated as the 5th all-time assist leader. A talented starting point guard and captain, Givens led his team to one NCAA Division II tournament appearance in 2006.
For 6 years, Jerome Givens has served AAU head coach for 5 Star Blue Chips Girls during the summer where he won 13/14 under girls Midwest Youth tournament in 2010. He also works as a coach and instructor for 5 Star Blue Chips Basketball Camp.
Givens is a native of Versailles, KY and currently resides there.
