FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky State junior middle blocker
Laila Wheaton has been named to the 2026 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Preseason First Team, the conference announced.
Wheaton earned the preseason recognition following a productive 2025 campaign in which she appeared in 31 matches and played 115 sets. She recorded 217 kills, a .257 hitting percentage and 310.5 total points while averaging 2.70 points per set.
The McKinney, Texas, native also made an impact from the service line and at the net, finishing the season with 44 service aces and 80 total blocks. Her defensive totals included 19 solo blocks, 61 block assists and 55 digs. She also contributed seven assists.
Wheaton enters the 2026 season as one of the SIAC's top returning middle blockers and a key member of Kentucky State's returning group.
