TUSKEGEE, Ala. – Kentucky State baseball completed a series sweep over Tuskegee, scoring four runs in the 10th inning to defeat the Golden Tigers 12-8 in the series finale Sunday in Tuskegee, Alabama.
Kendall Garland was the offensive catalyst, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs. He delivered a two-RBI single in the first inning and another single in the 10th to keep the winning rally alive.
Jonathan Padgett went 2-for-3 at the plate with three walks and scored three runs. At first base, Brady Woolridge tallied 12 putouts while also scoring three runs.
On the mound,
Bailey Hawkins started and pitched eight innings. Relief pitcher
Jayden Walter earned the win, keeping the Golden Tigers scoreless in the 10th inning.
The Thorobreds got off to an early start, scoring three runs highlighted by a two-run single into right field that put Kentucky State ahead 3-0 before the first out was recorded.
After reaching base on a single and stealing second,
Logan Christophel was driven in by Woolridge. Tuskegee walked three Thorobreds, including a bases-loaded walk by
Ryan Campbell that pushed the lead to 7-2.
Trailing most of the game, Tuskegee hit a three-run home run to tie the score at 8-8 and
force extra innings.
In the 10th inning, Kentucky State regained control after loading the bases. The Thorobreds capitalized on a Tuskegee error and a balk to take a 10-8 lead.
Cameron McDonald added an RBI on a fielder's choice, and
Harry Major capped the scoring with a sacrifice fly to center field, extending the lead to 12-8. Walter closed out the bottom of the 10th to secure the victory.

Kentucky State will head to Harrogate, Tennessee to take on Lincoln Memorial on March 17, first pitch is set four 4 p.m.
