FRANKFORT, Ky. – Despite a strong second-half offensive effort and double digit performances from four Thorobreds, Kentucky State men's basketball fell 99-71 to Edward Waters Thursday night.

The Thorobreds were led by Aziel Blackwell, who showcased his efficiency at the charity stripe by shooting a perfect 12-for-12 on free throws to finish with 19 points. Gregory Melvin added 14 points, including a team-high three triples, while Terin Wofford and Dashawn Hall chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Tigers Control the Boards
The story of the game was the battle on the glass. Edward Waters utilized its size to out-rebound Kentucky State 52-32, including 20 offensive rebounds that led to 27 second-chance points. The Tigers' interior presence resulted in 52 points in the paint, making it difficult for the Thorobreds to sustain defensive stands.

Keshawn Evans led the visiting charge with a double-double, recording 26 points and 12 rebounds.

Second Half Surge
Trailing 49-29 at the intermission, Kentucky State found its offensive rhythm in the second half. The Thorobreds increased their scoring output significantly, putting up 42 points in the final 20 minutes.

Blackwell and Melvin combined for key baskets early in the half to ignite the Frankfort crowd, while Hall provided a late spark with physical play inside, finishing 4-of-6 from the floor. KSU also capitalized on its opportunities at the line, finishing the night at 75.9% (22-for-29).
