MACON, Ga. – A trio of highly productive team leaders will represent the 2025 Kentucky State Thorobreds at the SIAC Football Media Day. Wide receiver Jaden Hale, defensive back Lawrence McConnell, and defensive back Navy Curry – along with head coach Felton Huggins Jr. will be among those slated to attend the event, which is set for July 15 in Macon, Georgia.

The two-day event will begin Monday, July 14, as players and coaches from across the conference will participate in a community service event in partnership with local non-profits in Macon. The Media Day portion will follow on Tuesday, July 15, at the Tubman African American Museum.
In his second season leading the Thorobreds, Huggins led his team to a 5-6 finish and a 4-4 finish in SIAC play.

McConnell had a successful sophomore season, earning two accolades: 2024 SIAC Preseason All-Conference Second Team Honors and SIAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors. He played the entire season, posting 56 total tackles — 31 solo and 25 assisted — along with 3.5 tackles for loss totaling 25 yards and two solo sacks for a loss of 20 yards.

Curry showed how dynamic an athlete he is by switching to defense during the 2024 season, where he appeared in eight games, recorded eight total tackles (five solo, three assisted), five pass breakups, and one interception.

Entering his senior year, Hale finished his junior year leading the receiving corps with 43 receptions for 404 yards and a career-high six touchdowns.
The Thorobreds will open their 2025 season on August 30 at the Detroit Football Classic against rival Central State at 1:00 p.m. at the home of the Detroit Lions, Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
