Kentucky State Softball Battles in Extra Inning Loss to Spring Hill

FRANKFORT, Ky.  –  Kentucky State softball was edged 6-5 by Spring Hill in a 10-inning battle Saturday.

The Badgers found one run in the second inning and two runs in the third inning to take an early 3-0 lead over the Thorobreds.

An error by the Badgers allowed Regan Dudley to reach base and brought home Jorden Bowman for Kentucky State's first run. Andralyn Brown followed with an infield single to second, scoring Dudley. With the bases loaded, Tayler Floyd dropped down a bunt single to plate Brown and tie the game at 3-3 through four innings.

Spring Hill took a 4-3 lead at the top of the sixth inning, but a double into center field from Aaliyah Long drove in both Makayla Coffey and Floyd to put the Thorobreds ahead 5-4 at the end of the inning.

At the top of the seventh with two outs and one Badger in scoring position a bad hop on a ground ball to third baseman Brown allowed the tying run score (5-5) and send the game to extra innings.

Both teams held each other scoreless for the eighth and ninth inning until a single into left field scored one run for the Badgers in tenth inning secured a 6-5 extra inning win.
