FRANKFORT, Ky. – In a hard-fought SIAC battle, Kentucky State pushed LeMoyne-Owen to the limit but came up just short in a five-set defeat (8-25, 27-25, 14-25, 28-26, 16-18) Wednesday night at Bell Gymnasium.
The Thorobreds showed resilience after dropping the opening set, bouncing back to take a dramatic second frame. After falling in the third, Kentucky State forced a decisive fifth set with another extra-point victory in the fourth.
Trent Findley led the way for KSU with a team-high 11 kills while adding five block assists.
Noel Smith contributed seven kills, five block assists, and an ace. Setter
D'Angelo Coleman dished out 22 assists and added three service aces.
LeMoyne-Owen capitalized on a strong offensive performance, tallying 54 kills as a team while hitting .306. The Magicians' Alendy Sincoul paced all hitters with 27 kills and three blocks.
