Mondrea Williams Adds Fourth Double-Double of the Season Against Tuskegee

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Senior Mondrea Williams added her fourth double-double as Kentucky State women's basketball was defeated 77-62 by Tuskegee Saturday inside of the Exum Center.
 
Williams led the Thorobreds with 12 points and 10 rebounds and two blocks.
 
Senior Jordan Isom went made three shots from beyond the arc to score in the double figures with 11 points. Junior Diara McBroom also scored in the double figures with 14 points.
 
Former Thorobred Hilani Cantone led the contest with 27 points shooting nearly 60% from the field.
 
After the opening basket from Cantone the Thorobreds took a 5-3 lead on a layup by McBroom in the first quarter. The Thorobreds were able to recover from a Golden Tiger lead as Jeana Weatherspoon tied the game 13-13 on a layup with a 1:52 remaining in the quarter. A three pointer in the final seconds from Williams brought the Thorobreds to within one of the 19-18 Tuskegee first quarter lead.
 
Near the midpoint of the second quarter Senior Naja Fenelon hit a three to put the Thorobreds ahead by two (29-27). Tuskegee would tie and take the game briefly before a pair of made free-throws by Bailey Ford tied the game 34-34 at 3:10 of the second quarter.
 
A jumper by Fenelon tied the game at 36-36 with just under 30 seconds remaining in the half. But a Golden Tigers three-pointer would give them a 39-36 lead at halftime.
 
With a pair of back-to-back three-pointers, followed by a layup by Williams gave the Thorobreds a 44-40 lead at 7:54 of the second quarter.
 
Tuskegee went on a late third quarter run that put them ahead 54-45 with 2:15 left in the quarter. The Thorobreds followed with a string of baskets to close on the 54-51 Tuskegee lead at the end of the third.
 
In the fourth quarter Tuskegee was able to pull away outscoring Kentucky State 23-11 in the fourth quarter and take the game 77-62 at the final buzzer.
