Kentucky State Men’s Basketball looks to extend series lead over Edward Waters Thursday

JACKSONVILLE – Kentucky State men's basketball aims to extend their series lead over Edward Waters on Thursday, Dec. 4. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be live on the SIAC Network.  

Thursday's game will be the fifth meeting between the two teams since 2022. Kentucky State leads the series 3-1. The pair last met on March 1 of last season, with the Thorobreds defeating the Tigers 108-87 in Frankfort. 

The Tigers started the 2025-26 season 4-2 overall and 2-0 in SIAC play. In their last outing on Nov. 29, Edward Waters took a narrow 65-60 loss to North Georgia. Keshawn Evans leads the Tigers, averaging 18.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Edward Waters also holds a 2.8-point scoring margin, outscoring opponents 72.8 to 70.0. 

Kentucky State heads to Jacksonville after a 93-56 exhibition loss to a Division I opponent on Nov. 29. The Thorobreds are off to a 2-1 start in conference play and sit at 2-3 overall. Aziel Blackwell has been the Thorobreds' leading scorer, averaging 17.6 points per game. Melvin Gregory has also played a vital role, averaging 15.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. 

Thursday's game will be streamed live on the SIAC Sports Network.
