FRANKFORT, Ky – The Black College Sports Page (BCSP) named Kentucky State quarterback
Denim Johnson and wide receiver
Darius Cyprian their Offensive Players of the Week on Sunday.
Johnson led all HBCUs with five passing touchdowns and connected on the longest completion of the week at 81 yards. He ranked third nationally among HBCU quarterbacks with 392 passing yards, completing 16 passes without an interception.
Cyprian paced all HBCU receivers for the second time this season, recording 254 receiving yards on six catches—an average of 42.3 yards per reception—including an 81-yard touchdown grab, the longest of the week.
On Saturday, Nov. 1, Kentucky State defeated Clark Atlanta 43-28 to extend its win streak to six games — the program's first six-game streak since 1977, and just the seventh in school history and only the second since the start of the 1950 season.
The Thorobreds will continue regular-season play Saturday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. against Lane in Jackson, Tennessee.
