TUSKEGEE, Ala. – A late Kentucky State rally wasn't enough to erase Tuskegee's fast start, as the Thorobreds fell 65–57 on the road Tuesday afternoon.
Kentucky State was led by
Shiyah Forte, who scored 15 points on three made field goals and a 9-of-11 effort at the free-throw line. She also paced the Thorobreds on the boards with seven rebounds.
Tuskegee opened strong, stretching its largest lead of the first quarter to 14 points with a 16–2 advantage at the 3:21 mark.
Kentucky State responded at the foul line, converting 6 of 7 free throws to outscore the Golden Tigers 17–15 in the second quarter and cut the deficit to 31–24 at halftime.
Tuskegee rebuilt its margin in the third, using a five-point spurt to push ahead 42–28 with 3:41 remaining before carrying a 47–37 lead into the final period.
Kentucky State made a late push, getting seven second-chance points and 14 points from the bench to outscore Tuskegee 20–18 in the fourth. But the Thorobreds' rally came up short in a 65–57 loss.
