FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State women's basketball started strong but couldn't maintain momentum in the second half, falling 69-53 to Spring Hill on Saturday afternoon.
Alycia Triplett led the Thorobreds, shooting 50 percent (5 of 10) from the field and scoring 10 points. Spring Hill's Jenice Adjessom led all scorers with 17 points.
The Badgers were nearly perfect at the free-throw line, finishing 11 of 13, and hit eight 3-pointers to maintain an offensive edge throughout the game.
Kentucky State went on a nine-point run, capped by a 3-pointer from
Jazmin Chambers at the 7:01 mark of the first quarter. The Thorobreds edged the Badgers 17-14 at the end of the period.
Spring Hill's Adjessom led all scorers with 13 points in the second quarter, helping the Badgers take a narrow 39-35 halftime lead.
The Thorobreds were held to just seven points in the third quarter, allowing Spring Hill to extend their lead to 53-42 by the end of the period.
With 1:02 remaining in the fourth quarter, the Badgers went on a 10-point run to maintain their lead and seal the 69-53 victory.
