WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Kentucky State women's volleyball fell in straight sets to No. 10 (NAIA) University of the Cumberlands, 3-0 (25-7, 25-9, 25-7), in a midweek nonconference match Wednesday night.
Sydnee Breda-Nixon led Kentucky State with four kills and a .333 hitting percentage, followed by
Ananiah Huguely's three kills.
Leah Tubbs and
Cydne Clayton each contributed two kills, and setter
Jada Knight tallied eight assists and six digs to pace the defense.
Defensively,
Zora Nooks added three digs, while
Erin Grieb and
Amber Gregory chipped in two each.
Cumberlands was led by Brynnley Bryant's 12 kills, while Savanah Jolly posted 27 assists. The Patriots controlled each set from start to finish, recording 15, 20 and 9 kills in succession.
Kentucky State will head to Tennessee for a pair of conference matches beginning on Friday, Oct. 31 against LeMoyne-Owen at 7:00 p.m. followed by Lane on Saturday, Nov. 1 at 2 p.m.
