RINDGE, N.H. –
Leland Gantz drilled a 41-yard field goal in the final seconds to lift Kentucky State to a 17-14 victory over Franklin Pierce on Friday night at Sodexo Field.
With the score tied 14-14 late in the fourth quarter, Gantz's kick capped a back-and-forth battle and secured the Thorobreds' sixth win of the season.
Running back Chad Elzy and quarterback
Denim Johnson each accounted for one touchdown. Elzy led the ground game with 49 rushing yards, while Johnson completed 19 passes for 189 yards through the air.
Defensively,
Mataye Youman paced Kentucky State with 13 tackles.
Mark Clark and
Jordan Thompson each added 10 stops, while
Navy Curry continued his strong season with an interception to help anchor the Thorobreds' defensive effort.
