COLUMBIA, S.C. – Despite a late surge, Kentucky State fell to Benedict 83-67 on Saturday in SIAC play at HRC Arena.
Jeana Weatherspoon led the Thorobreds (4-10, 3-4 SIAC) with 16 points, adding six rebounds and a steal.
Bailey Ford contributed 14 points, while
Khalia Bryant recorded nine points and seven rebounds.
Benedict (4-7, 3-4 SIAC) capitalized on turnovers, scoring 25 points off 23 Kentucky State giveaways. Taylor Christmas paced the Tigers with 24 points on 11-of-13 shooting and added six rebounds. Alaysia Nash added 15 points, while Ciara Hardy chipped in 12.
The Thorobreds showed resilience in the fourth quarter, outscoring Benedict 26-19, but the deficit proved too great. Kentucky State shot 46.4% from the field but connected on just 2 of 11 attempts from beyond the arc. Kentucky State held Benedict to just five points, securing a dominant 82-63 victory.
