FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky State men's basketball aims to continue strong January start as they host Miles on Sunday, January 12 at 2 p.m. inside of the Exum Center. 
 
Since 2011, Kentucky State holds a narrow edge in its series against Miles, leading 13-11. However, the Golden Bears claimed the last meeting with a decisive 74-51 victory on Feb. 10, 2024. The Thorobreds, meanwhile, have won the last two matchups at home, including an 85-76 win on Jan. 22, 2024, and an 84-83 triumph on Feb. 4, 2023.
 
Kentucky State opened January on a strong note with a pair of road victories, a 74-69 win over Allen on Jan. 2 and an 82-63 win at Benedict on Jan. 4. The wins improved the Thorobreds to 8-6 overall and 5-4 in SIAC play. Lavar Miller Jr. leads Kentucky State with an average of 20.1 points per game, followed closely by Aziel Blackwell, who averages 17.9 points per game.
 
Miles enters the contest with a 10-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in SIAC play. The Golden Bears recently defeated Clark Atlanta, 80-72, on Jan. 7. Corey Trotter has been a key contributor, nearly averaging a double-double with 9.9 rebounds and 10.2 points per game. The team is led in scoring by Alvin Miles, who averages 15.1 points per game.
