FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Kentucky State fell to Fort Valley State, 42-0, on Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium. 
 
Although the Thorobreds struggled offensively, they had two promising drives where scoring opportunities were within reach. In the first quarter the Thorobreds put together an 8-play, 58-yard drive but was stalled on downs at the FVSU 16-yard line. An 8-play, 61 drive was ended inside the redzone on a fumble. 
 
Things were clicking for the Wildcats on offense totally 498 offensive yards that included 198 rushing yards and 300 passing yards. 
 
How It Happened
Fort Valley State capitalized early, beginning with a blocked Kentucky State punt in the first quarter (13:22) that Cameron Johnson returned 12 yards for a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead. 
 
In the second quarter, FVSU extended their lead when quarterback Kelvin Durham connected with Za'Tarous Anderson on a 10-yard touchdown pass, to take a 14-0 lead. Just before halftime, the Wildcats scored on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Durham to Dejuan Bell, pushing the halftime score to 21-0.
 
In the third quarter FVSU's Durham connected with Brandon Marshall on a 41-yard touchdown pass. This was followed with another scoring drive where Durham connected with Bell on a 74-yard touchdown strike. The Wildcats entered the final quarter with a 35-0 lead. 
 
FVSU sealed the game 42-0 with a 40-yard rushing touchdown from Jamal Sanders' 40-yard rushing touchdown.

The Thorobreds will head to Chicago, Ill. for the 2024 Chicago Football Classic against Morehouse on Saturday, Sept. 21.
