MANKATO, Minn. – Heading into her sophomore year, Savannah Teale will play collegiate summer softball for the Mankato Habaneros, a member of the Northwoods Softball League.
A native of Wisconsin Teale will be in familiar territory as she heads to Mankato, Minnesota to begin here summer league play on June 18 in a doubleheader to the Minot Honeybees.
"I would say that I am most excited to be a part of the 1st NWL softball season along with so many amazing other athletes! I'm also excited to get to meet new people throughout the Mankato community & be a role model for all of the younger girls pursuing their softball dreams." Teale said.
In her freshman year she started in 26 games this season, she has put up significant numbers on both offense and defense. In those games she has a batting average of .351, 10 runs, 2 doubles, and 2 triples. She also has a slugging percentage of .439 and an on base percentage of .391. On defense as a first baseman she has 107 putouts, along with 11 assists, and a fielding percentage of .994 leading the SIAC.
The Northwoods Softball League will begin its inaugural season as the first for-profit women's summer collegiate softball league based in the Upper Midwest.
