ALBANY, Ga. – Kentucky State baseball fell to the top-seeded Albany State Golden Rams 8-2 in their opening game of the 2024 SIAC Baseball Championship. The Thorobreds will now face either No. 5 Miles or No. 4 Savannah State tomorrow (May 3) in their second game of the 2024 SIAC Baseball Championship in Savannah, Ga.
The Golden Rams took an early lead, scoring four runs in the second inning, followed by one in the fifth and three in the seventh, to establish an 8-0 advantage.
At the top of the ninth inning the Thorobreds scored their first run on a double by
Brad Dossett that batted in
Kelton Saylor. Freshman of the year
Mitchell Collins singled into center field to bat in Dossett scoring the second and final run for the Thorobreds.
Saylor led the Thorobreds, batting a perfect 4-for-4 and crossing the plate once. Dossett and Collins contributed with an RBI each during the game.
Kentucky State aims to extend their championship journey as they prepare to confront the loser between Miles and Savannah State tomorrow (May 3) at 2 p.m.
