CREST VIEW HILLS, Ky. – Kentucky State softball takes game two 6-2 while falling 6-0 in game one to split Thursday's doubleheader at Thomas More.
Thomas More controlled game one offensively with 11 hits combined with two errors from Kentucky State led to 6-0 win for the Saints.
Although the Saints scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning to take an 2-0 game two lead.
Tanisha Valdez spurred the Thorobreds' offense with a critical single to the pitcher, driving in
Imani Reed for the opening run.
Rhealee Ellis followed suit, scoring off a
Lisuanet Flores single to center field. An ensuing error by Thomas More permitted Valdez to reach home, edging the Thorobreds to a 3-2 advantage.
The Kentucky State Thorobreds ignited a seventh-inning rally when
Alarryia Jones scored on a double to left center.
Tommya Davis followed, scoring on
Tanisha Valdez's single. A base hit by
Aaliyah Yates brought Rhalee Ellis home, sealing the deal on the Thorobreds' comeback with a final score of 6-2.
Theresa Pelland earned the win pitching a complete game with four strikeouts.
Up Next
Kentucky State will head to Tuskegee, Alabama for a three game series beginning with a doubleheader on April 20 and a single game on April 21.
