JACKSONVILLE, Fla.– The Kentucky State University men's volleyball team concluded its 2024 season at the SIAC Men's Volleyball Championship by defeating No. 5 Benedict with a sweep of 3-0 before falling to No. 1 Fort Valley State 3-0.
SIAC All-Conference Honors
The 2024 SIAC Men's Volleyball All-Conference Second Team included two Thorobreds, Outside Hitter
Jordan Howard and Middle Hitter
Trent Findley. In his first year,
Malachi Allen was named SIAC Freshman of the Year.
Game 1: Kentucky State 3, Benedict 0
Howard and Allen contributed to 24 of the 43 kills that led to a 3-0 sweep of the Benedict Tigers in the opening match of the championship.
Kevin McGhee had a season high of 35 assists which was more than the 20 assists as a team from the Benedict Tigers.
Kentucky State took the first set 25-21, second set 25-20 and 25-17 to win the third and final set.
Game 2: Kentucky State 0, Fort Valley State 3
Kentucky State fell to No. 1 Fort Valley State Wildcats 3-0, falling 25-13 in set one, 25-11 in set two and 25-13 in the third and final set.
Monty Peterson led the match with 10 digs while McGhee led the Thorobreds with 10 assists.
